About us

Background

The Kasavai Community Development Initiative was founded in 2011 by Alistair Y. Amendi and Franziska Kerting, in order to promote and support community projects in Kasavai.

Alistair Y. Amendi grew up in the village. He met Franziska Kerting through Oxfam International Youth Partnership in 2010. Together they decided to found this initiative.

Vision

The Kasavai Community Development Initiative’s vision is a community where women and children’s rights are respected, education is taken keenly and where people protect and conserve the environment. We envision a community where girls are given an opportunity to explore their potential as well as the boys and where there is creation of opportunities among the youth in the community. 

Mission

The Kasavai Community Development Initiative’s (KCDI) mission is to support children’s education, women’s rights, youth participation in issues involving the community as well as to spearhead the community development.

Objectives

The overall objective of KCDI is to support further development in Kasavai village to accomplish the future vision of a fully developed Kasavai village in which women and men have equal rights and access to resources, people live in harmony with the environment and all people have equal life opportunities through education.

The sub-objective of KCDI includes the following:-

  1. Creation of awareness on domestic violence and how to stop it
  2. Promotion of education to children and youth
  3. Creation of awareness on reproductive health especially to girls.
  4. Promotion of income generating activities to youths
  5. Creation of awareness on sustainable utilization of natural resources and conservation of environment.
  6. Promotion of women and children rights.
  7. Raise funds on the purpose of KCDI
